Annwyl Aelodau / Dear Members and Friends Â
What a pleasure it has been to see the harbour and marina spring to life over the last few days. The longer nights, and better weather have had many of us dusting off our life jackets and thinking about what trips and adventures we can have this year, whatever form of boating we choose! |

‍Racing updateA huge congratulations to Mojito and Pata Negra for putting Pwllheli on the world sailing stage in Antigua! Mojito finished 2nd in class in both the Nelsons cup and the RORC Caribbean 600, and Pata Negra finished 3rd in class in the Caribbean 600 after achieving 2nd in class in the Transatlantic race, before going on to win their class in the Heineken Regatta in St. Maarten. Well done to all, we were all glued to YB races for the duration, watching your achievements!  Both boats are already almost back in the UK in readiness for the next big event, the IRC Welsh National Championships here in Pwllheli on the 2nd to 4th May (everyone welcome - enter online at www.IRCWelshChamps.com ). |
|
|---|
‍The event incorporates the J70 Welsh Championships and the Sonata Welsh Championships all in one event, together with a YTC cruiser racing class too. Â
There’s a brief chance to practice ahead of the IRC Welsh Championships with Pwllheli coastal races on the 5th, 19th and 26th April and shorter, round the club mark races on the 6th, 18th, 20th and 21st April in the Tuning weekend and Easter weekend. More information in the racing section of the Pwllheli Sailing Club website. |
|
|---|
‍Cruising Racing Don’t forget to enter the YTC cruiser racing class at the IRC Welsh National Championships 2nd to 4th May and support the clubs event. Â
The racing buoys are back in and ready for you to test your skills by sailing the Tremadog triangle (start at 0 off Gimblet rock, 2, 8, 10 and back to 0 for the finish). Â
All club racing is also open to cruisers – come and join us out on the water for some fun followed by a catch up in Plas Heli for results, help, advice and a chat about the year ahead.

Club and social activities. On Saturday 29th March we held our annual general meeting and followed that same evening with the first social event of the year, our Fitting out supper, which was a great success. Great to see so many of you there and we look forward to keeping our social calendar active. Â
We used to have a very active social committee that has slowly shrunk over the years and we would be very pleased to hear from anyone who would like to assist in reviving it….or just giving a hand with organising some extra events! Pop us an email to flag.officers@pwllhelisailingclub.co.uk if you'd like to be involved! ‍ |

‍New CHPSC Starting HutMassive thanks to the team of volunteers who turned out a couple of weekends ago and put in a mammoth shift, of clearing the remains of the old hut, cleaning the deck upon which the hut resides, and setting up the furniture and equipment. Huge additional thanks to the very generous members who have donated lots of equipment from pc’s, monitors, weather stations and kettles! |

Dingy Compound
Progress is being made on the management of the dinghy compound. Â
We do however need your assistance in identifying some boats. Unpaid boats will be removed after the RYA Youth Championships. One boat has already been scrapped! Â
Please make sure that your dinghy is registered, boats that have been paid for will be issued an annual sticker, affixed to your boat, so please ensure you let us know the make, position and colour of your boat if you have paid, or if you wish to claim your boat before scrapping, please contact flag.officers@pwllhelisailingclub.co.uk |

| We continue to work closely with RYA CW to provide facilities for training camps, storage, and activities, and we respect the strategic importance of the facilities for events, training and boating in Wales. Â
Community engagement works continues and included our work with clubs and associations, assistance with facilities for a disability boat, fundraising events, classrooms for community groups, meetings, teaching and our work with children in-need. Â
Catering at the centre is with our franchisee operator Sean Devlin Ltd. Â
We are reliant on volunteers and are of course, grateful for all assistance provided by our stakeholder groups and clubs and in particular the Commodore and Flag Officers of Clwb Hwylio Pwllheli Sailing Club. Â
