The Clwb Hwylio Pwllheli Sailing Club Spring Series started on Saturday 14th April in ideal racing conditions with more wind than forecasted at about 16 knots gusting to 20 knots from the North East. The wind provided a flat sea in the glorious bay and there was excellent visibility with the snow capped mountains on Snowdonia providing an excellent backdrop.
Sgrech, Stephen Tudor’s J109 led in the first race and the impressive Midnight Mojito Peter Dunlop’s new Elan 350 suffered initial teething problems.
The second race saw the Collins' J109 lead for most of the race only to lose out on the last tricky beat to the finish - Sgrech taking line honours.
There was a great party on Saturday night to commemorate the sinking of the Titanic the evenings joviality was led by a prayer to humble mariners and then a 10 course extravaganza by our Chef Mel.
Sunday was an early start and it was forecasted to be light but turned out breezy and again great racing conditions.
Wil 2 Win, Partington Marine built Corby 25 scored her second 2nd place and Jeepster Dave Lean's new J109 got line honours and first place in the last race.
Thanks are extended to Richard for arranging the racing marks and for setting up the starting hut, John (Milgi) Griffiths for providing a replacement computer and to Robin for race officer duties.
