All you need for racing right here

The following is a message to all from the Secretary of Abersoch Keelboat Week:

Abersoch keelboat Week will be held this year from Monday 23rd to friday 27th August at SCYC, Abersoch. This year we have new class divisions to encourage more people to enter and enjoy the racing in the beautiful waters of Tremadoc Bay.

We have the racing IRC fleet, that will be split into two classes and race daily on an offshore course, with a mixture of windward-leeward, round the cans and coastal races. Incorporated into these classes will be the Impala Nationals and we hope that the Sigma 33 class will have its own fleet start as boats are entering from Liverpool and possibly Dublin Bay to join the 5 boats at SCYC.

After an absence last year, we hope to reintroduce the Sportsboat Fleet, with interest from the northern SB3 fleet and hopefully local boats. If you have a sportsboat, we would like you to enter by August 1st or send an expression of interest asap This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. - if we have 6 sportsboats entered by 1st August then you have a guarenteed class start.

The Gentlemen's Class has grown from strength to strength and this year we are splitting it into two - the White Sail and Spinnaker divisions, both raced under PYS handicap and both with one coastal type race per day starting at the SCYC club line.

Launching facilities are available at both Hafan Pwllheli and Partington Marine with great offers for the regatta. Plus there are moorings available at SCYC with the launch service running from the club jetty.

Ashore the Cove restaurant is open daily with BBQ, hog roast and themed evenings, plus hot beef/pork rolls to enjoy with your drinks when you arrive in the bar. Daily prize-giving will take place in the bar with sponsors extras on some days, plus the overall prize-giving on friday. We have live music on sunday after the skippers briefing plus the return of Elephant Juice on the final friday, added to this a beach tug of war in aid of the RNLI, with lifejacket checks and safety demonstrations.

The Notice of Race and entry form are available on the dedicated website www.abersochkeelboatweek.org and if you enter by the end of july, you are eligible for 4 free t-shirts courtesy of Wombat Clothing. And remember if you don't have a valid IRC certificate you may be eligible for the IRC incentive scheme which offers half price applications for this year - details on the website
