May saw some great results for our club members racing in the ISORA offshore series, with a 2nd place for Jac Y Do in the Dun Laoghaire to Pwllheli race, and 1st and 2nd for Jackknife and Mojito respectively in the return race to Dun Laoghaire, with other club boats also scoring well - the club is well on its way to retaining the Irish Sea trophy for the best performing club in ISORA.
The IRC Welsh National Championships was completed mid-May and congratulations to Thiea winning the cruiser class, and to Old School, Expletive, Jackpot and Mojito taking podium positions in the IRC classes.
Next year's provisional dates are 2-4th May - Further information can be found at www.ircwelshchamps.com
The club regatta is planned for the weekend of the 29th/30th June, and we hope to get more information out soon regarding both on and off the water activities, and also the plan to welcome the “Smith Brothers” ALB back to Pwllheli on Sunday 30th June.
In May, I had the great privilege, along with Gerallt Williams and Stephen Tudor, of having a meeting with Roger Smith who made the donation that funded the Shannon ALB, and he was very impressed with Plas Heli, our club activities, and the harbour in general, and could see the attraction to the class associations holding event here.
I hope those embarking on cruises, or just day sailing or motor boating round the bay, enjoy safe and enjoyable boating, and for those socialising in Plas Heli a relaxing time with friends, enjoying the now improved views of the harbour entrance, and of Tremadog bay and Eryri beyond.
