Subject: Re: ISORA Race 4- Change in Start time - Start time 07.15
Ladies and Gents,
Due to possible tidal problems in Pwllheli I propose to change the start time to 07.15. This will ensure that all boats get out of Pwllheli for the start. Also, boats arriving on the Friday evening and unable to get in through the channel can contact PSC and they will arrange a ferry to bring crew ashore from anchored boats. The boats can then be brought into the marina later in the evening.
I attach a copy of the email from Stephen Tudor of PSC that explains all:

Now the Tides/ Breakfast and Evening Meal.
The dredging work has not yet been completed and a section of the channel is still causing a problem.
Low water Pwllheli on Friday evening is 20.40 hrs. These are neap tides so rise and fall is not great. I draw 1.9 and could squeeze in at about 1hr after low water – but for a boat drawing 2.7m (9‘) the tide graph indicates about 2.30hrs after low water. So for English Mick drawing 9’ he should be ok at about 23.10hrs. This is a rising tide so should not be a problem. I am looking at the possibility of a RIB escort in to show the best channel route to the berth. If he arrives earlier I calculate that 17.20 is the latest he could get in. (The tide graph shows more time is required before low water than after).
On Saturday low water is 9.34hrs – we thought that all boats should be out before 0700hrs but looking at the tide graph for a 9’ boat indicates they should be out before 0615hrs. But this is a falling tide so the earlier the better.
I have arranged an earlier breakfast from 5.30hrs to 6.45hrs. The race starter is also available to start the race at 0700hrs or 0730hrs. I think we should go for a 0715hrs start this will get us to Wicklow earlier also!!
Also the largest yacht may wish to remain at anchor and the crew could be ferried in and out by PSC RIBS if required.
I am sending a copy of this to Wil at the Marina for his thoughts on the matter.
Should you wish to discuss the matter before making a decision please feel free to give me a call.
The club manager has informed me that due to the likely numbers involved for the evening meal the chef has agreed to do a special BBQ – with stakes and grills etc – these have been very popular and is highly recommended.
Thanks
Stephen
I have been advised by WSC that they will be providing burgers and salads as well as beer at the finish. Usual Wicklow hospitality.
I hope this does not inconvenience anyone but having a boat unable to get to the start would not be good for the fleet.
