C Denis Yapp

It is with sadness we report the passing of our former Commodore Denis Yapp.

Denis was Commodore of Pwllheli Sailing Club in 1966 / 67. His sailing started in Newquay where he had a share in a Jolly Boat. His involvement with Pwllheli Sailing Club started in the  late 1950's when he bought a GP14 called Scoter.

He then moved up to Tarka and then Nida111. These names appear regularly on our cups and trophies. Denis presented the Club with the 'Carreg Y Defaid' Trophy.

In the 1970's he sailed and skippered a number of boats on the south coast and raced extensively in the RORC fleet. He completed three Fastnet races.

He has always enjoyed his involvement in the club and sailing at Pwllheli. He was always ready to help and provide advice.

A service of celebration and thanksgiving for the life of C. Denis Yapp will take place at 3pm on Wednesday 5th June at St. Michaels Church, Michaelstone - y - Fedw , Cardiff.
