The 'Notices to Mariners' are provided for the convenience of our members, guests and visitors. CHPSC will make all reasonable attempts to keep these 'Notices' up to date but accepts no liability for their accuracy. Owners and skippers should check with the Harbour Master (and if relevant to their passage to South Cardigan Bay - the MOD Aberporth) before sailing.
From the Notice Board:
There is military activity planned and starting on the 6th of June, running for three weeks (unless if they complete earlier). Unfortunately this Trial has one of the biggest weapon safety traces that they use, which results in the need to keep most of the bay clear of shipping.
Hopefully the map below gives you an idea of the size of the safety trace (yellow circle – 18NM), they realise that it is a lot to ask but can you remain clear of this area from 09:00 through to 16:30 each week day (not weekends).
They realise that the sailing season is now getting underway and that you have a lot of activities planned, but they ask that we make our members aware of our Trial activity and ask that everyone steer around the safety area during this period please. They will be making hourly broadcasts on IMM channel 16 and 11 throughout the day, and you can also get in contact by phone by dialling 01239 813 760.
All being well, if they can complete the firings earlier then they won’t need the full three weeks, but a lot of this depends on having good weather and having a clear Range.
Finally, we will keep you updated on the CHPSC web site. You can also obtain information on their web site :
