COACH  BOAT GUIDLINES 2013

CROESO (Welcome in Welsh)

Welcome to Clwb Hwylio Pwllheli Sailing Club. 

ARRIVAL 

Attached you will find a site plan showing the location of car parks, dinghy parks, trailer parks, etc.  Please help the marshals and organizers by ensuring that your boats, trailers and cars are put in the right place.  Please keep your car and trailer clear of the slipway areas until you are ready to launch.  

REGISTRATION 

All official Safety Fleet RIBs and coach boats must register at Registration.  You will be asked that your RIB is in appropriate condition to perform its safety/coaching role and that it has the following equipment on board.

1. Adequate fuel for approximately 9 hours of on the water use.

2. Fully functional VHF radio that will operate for 9 hours (this may require spare batteries).

  1. A sound generator (whistles or fog horn).
  2. Compass.
  3. Anchor and warp suitable for the race area.
  4. Sharp knife, easily accessible.
  5. Kill cord, which must be used by the driver at all times.
  6. Personal buoyancy for the crew, to be worn at all times.
  7. Safety Tape to identify abandoned boats (to be issued by the CSL).
  8. Paddles.
  9. Drinking Water. 

 

 

Rib Launching / Recovery

This is by tractor only (with authorized driver) on the Pwllheli Marina slipway. After Registering your Rib you will be issued with a:- 

Trailer Number (need to attach to trailer winch)

Trailer Reminder Number (need to attach to rib keys)

All Ribs will be launched before the Championship if possible.

Having launched your boat, please take it to your designated mooring next to Versa Dock. RIBs should not be left moored at any other location.

A CHPSC Dory is available to FERRY to access and egress the floating pontoon. Please leave the Dory under the bridge.

Your trailer should be left in the designated Rib Trailer Park with the Trailer Number attached on the winch. 

MOORING

Because of the number of RIBs expected, all official Safety Fleet RIBs will be provided with overnight moorings at the side of the Versa dock (see the attached diagram). PSC do not have permission to use the pontoons

It will not be possible to bring RIBs ashore each evening.  Please ensure that your insurance covers overnight mooring.

The club will endeavor to provide support RIBs with moorings. The ESO will provide details.  Otherwise, support RIBS may make their own arrangements with the Pwllheli Marina. 

Ferry

A Ferry will be manned 1 hr before schedule race start time  until start time and 1hr after last finisher. A lift to the Rib mooring can be arranged through the club office.

TRAILER PARKING

Having launched and secured your RIB, your RIB trailer will be taken to the trailer park which will be located in next door to the Dingy Park. 

RECOVERY AT THE END OF THE EVENT

Details for the recovery of RIBs will be confirmed at Friday’s safety briefing.  With a large number of RIBs to recover, we will have to have to operate some sort of queuing system.  A CHPSC Marshal will be standing on top of the slip

Please give the Marshall your Trailer Number           

The Marshall will contact Tractor in the in the trailer Park            

The Marshall will make a list as the ribs arrive to recover the boat

The tractor company will only recover the boats on the PSC Marshall queue list.

Boats will be left in the yacht compound – please do not block the compound and trailers when recovering your rib.

Please ensure trailer lock / wheel clamps are off on the last day of racing.

ON THE WATER RACING AREA The racing areas will be in Tremadog Bay.  Please see the Sailing Instructions for charts indicating the racing areas. NB. Classes will be assigned to course areas each day. 

LOCAL HAZARDS At the Safety Briefing on Sunday, we will use a chart to explain the local hazards.   Do not cross over the wall. The launching beach can be very shallow and Ribs should not be driven into the shallows.

Please ensure that you are familiar with the local surroundings by studying a chart.  Attached  

LOCAL REQUIREMENTS The harbor operates a 4- knot speed limit including the entrance channel, and inside the yellow buoys off the beach, which is enforced by the harbor master.  The maximum fine is £2,500.   

LUNCHES Packed Lunches can be ordered from the Galley.   

CASUALTY DELIVERY Casualty and Emergency delivery is to the MARINA FUELLING PONTOON  

VHF RADIOS Each course will be using a different channel as its working channel – you will be issued with a Call sign and Safety Boat list on which the various radio channels are noted.   

REFUELING  Each  RIBs will be refueled at the Yacht Haven refueling berth which is at the head of Pontoon G.  Only card Payment is acceppted at the fuel pontoon.

 

GENERAL DUTIES The organizational structure of the safety fleet will be as follows:- 

PRO                                       Ultimate Responsibility for safety 

ESO (Event Safety Officer)  Management of safety fleet, and operationally Responsible for safety on the water 

CSL (Course Safety Leader)         runs the safety fleet for each course.Prime contact point For safety boats. 

Safety Boats - Allocated to a course.  Report to the CSL 

Coach Boats - Might be called in by PRO or CSL to assisst

There will be a daily Safety Fleet Briefing before sailing each day at 0830 in ****.
