RYA Cymru.Wales is pleased to be able to award a Special contribution Award to Stephen Tudor for his work at Clwb Hwylio Pwllheli sailing Club and the huge personal contribution he has made in the development of the new Welsh National Sailing Academy and Events centre at Pwllheli.

Stephen Tudor has been a member at CH Pwllheli SC since the age of 8 and has been on various committees since an early age. He has been Rear, Vice and Commodore(2012/14) and has been Honorary Secretary for a long time.

He is a keen and an accomplished J109 sailor and competes on a regular basis in the ISORA racing series and has won the Wolfs head Trophy on two occasions. He has also taken on the role as ISORA secretary and has forged great links with clubs and sailors on the other side of the Irish Sea.

Over the last 5 years Stephen has been the driving force for the development of a new sailing academy in Pwllheli. The new facilities that are now in the final stages of construction has gained £8.3 million pounds of support from the Welsh Government ,the Welsh European Funding Office and Gwynedd Council. The iconic shore side facilities will rival the best the world and put Wales firmly on the international stage as a destination of choice for world and European sailing events.

Stephen is the Chairman and Company Secretary of the new operating company Plas Heli. In the last two years Stephen has given hours of his time on a daily basis to meet with contractors and government officials, whilst running his successful family estate agency business.

Jane Butterworth the Pwllheli Youth Section Chairman says, ” Stephen has worked tirelessly for the club, without his commitment this project would never have eventuated and his hard work deserves to be recognised”.

Stephen Tudor a very worthy recipient of our Special Contribution Award for his drive and passion at Pwllheli Sailing Club and helping to make Wales one of the best places in the world to be a sailor.
