Golden Globe Race 2022
We wish Ian Herbert-Jones and his Tradewind 35 "Puffin" - "Bon Voyage" and "Fair Winds", departing Pwllheli on Thursday July 28th for Spain, to take part in the prologue race to Des Sables d'Ollone and then make final preparations for the 2022 edition of the Golden Globe Yacht Race - around the world single handed, departing on September 4th using old fashioned technology - paper charts and sextants - no GPS!
Ian has meticulously prepared Puffin for the race, with the assistance of his shore based supporters and sponsors, lead by team manager Jade Leaney, and will have to carry all his provisions and water on board for the trip!
Only 200 people have successfully completed a solo non-stop circumnavigation of the planet earth via the three great capes - less than the 700 people who have visited space!
Ian is pictued below receiving the club burgee from round the world yachtsman Richard Tudor, and club flag officers earlier today
