We started 2022 with the responsibly of assisting with the planning for the RYA Youth Nationals in April, with the flag officers and volunteers running the Plas Heli bar for the benefit of members, still with many COVID restrictions in force.

The flag officers engaged with the Plas Heli directors to both provide solutions for the sailing events, and to assist with looking for a more permanent franchise bar and catering operation and were delighted when we introduced Sean and Kellie Devlin to the academy and signed the franchise contract.

Working together, we hosted a successful RYA Youth Nationals in April, with very positive feedback both on and off the water, and moved into May with our bar and cafe/restaurant functioning, and most covid restrictions ended.

Through May the centre was busy with squad training, and the club with local, coastal and ISORA racing.

June saw a busy Jubilee racing and cruising weekend and of course the club  regatta with a great party in Plas Heli.

July saw us assisting with the supernova nationals, with members volunteering both on and the water, again with great feedback from the class.

During this spring and summer, Plas Heli continued with infrastructure improvements including camping and motor home pitches, for the benefit of both visitors and members, and improved and secure parking in all areas of the campus.

In August we hosted a very successful IRC Welsh National Championship’s, with PSC boats taking titles in both the IRC and cruiser classes, and another great party! The weather kindly allowed us to enjoy the decks, with high tables allowing great views of the bay and Eryri beyond.

Sailing events continued through September and October with visitors commenting favourably on our Plas Heli home.

Members continued to excel in both the club events, with a busy Autumn and Winter series, and ISORA racing with PSC boats winning all three classes and the overall title.

PSC was also represented in RORC races home and abroad, the RI race and Cork week and of course the ongoing GGR.

Our cruising members visited all corners of the UK and Ireland with some great reports, which along with all the club sections, can be read in the club 2022 yearbook via the club website.

CHIPAC continued its valuable work with youth sailors here in Pwllheli and we are delighted that this section continues to develop under the guidance of its talented instructors.

We assisted Plas Heli with the specification, tender and manufacture of a pillar crane to enable sport boat racing to develop, and we are very pleased to see this valuable asset on the key side.

The club is financially healthy, and we continue to work to provide opportunity for all to participate in sailing activities and socialise at or home here in Pwllheli.

It is with saddness we marked the passing of our Patron, since 1982, King Constantine II, the last King of Greece, former Commodore and life member Huw Tudor, and club members and stalwarts Charles McConnell (2021), Cedric Selby, and Brian Edmonds. and former club members Gerald Carlton, Maureen Dodshon and Peter Sykes.

I have not mentioned the many names who have contributed to both the running of the club and those successful in the racing and cruising activities,  but must pay tribute to last year's Commodore Gerallt Williams, who was presented with a token of our appreciation at the Christmas party, to Gwyndaf Hughes who stands down from CHIPAC after decades of service, and presented with an award at a recent CHIPAC evening, and finally to Stephen Tudor who has handed over the secretarial and membership roles to Rob and Tim, but continues with his work running the communications portfolio, and now the final handover is complete we will be presenting  Stephen with his award later this year. I thank my fellow flag officers, section heads, volunteers, and members for their support, and working together we can continue to offer great value and comradeship that being a member of our club brings.
