The club’s junior section, CHIPAC, has grown significantly in recent years and has been rewarded by its efforts and Clwb Hwylio Pwllheli Sailing Club has gained the status of being a RYA Training Centre.
CHIPAC has a dedicated group of sailing instructors, powerboat instructors and a racing coach supported by a strong team of volunteers with powerboat and safety boat qualifications.
In 2022 we ran a beginners and an advanced class through the season with RYA level 1 and 2 being attained in both groups, with the more advanced gaining selection to various Welsh and GBR National Sailing Squads.
We have a variety of single handed dinghies - optimists, R/S teras, toppers and lasers and several crews boats including R/S Fevas, picks and Bahias to develop sailing skills.
CHIPAC will run on Friday evenings in the season from 5:00 pm with other sessions taking place throughout the season.
RYA syllabus will be followed with levels 1,2,3 and start racing being available
CHIPAC offers local youngsters the opportunity to learn to sail and will give them the chance to continue sailing at a local club level or the option and pathway to sail competitively in National Junior class events with the chance of being selected in Welsh and GBR National Sailing Squads.
If you would like to join CHIPAC and take advantage of the opportunities on offer in some of the best sailing grounds in North Wales, or volunteer to assist with the instruction, racing or running of CHIPAC, then please contact Mike Thorpe, Lyndsay Harrold or Jane Butterworth.
