Covid-19 Update - August 2020

Plas Heli, the café bar, compounds and pontoons are now open and available for our members, guests and visitors.

Access to our facility is however conditional on compliance with our 'Covid 19 Protocol'

In particular our members, guets and visitors are reminded to respect the rules on social distancing (it is 2m in Wales), regular hand cleaning and all visits to the facility must be recorded on our track and trace systems as follows:

This procedure is very important and is designed to protect the health of everyone who work/volunteer at the facility and of course you the visitors and guests.

In line with the latest initiatives to minimize the spread of Covid 19 we are determined to play our part to minimize the spread of this virus.

We have followed the guidance of our Governing Body, RYA and RYA Cymru Wales, for centres, sailing clubs and associations, boaters and sailors, and also the instruction of Welsh Government and all appropriate Health Authorities.

We  will provide updates on this web site but for now please keep safe.

Autumn Skies3

As golden colours start to appear on the trees and crisp leaves crunch underfoot, it can only mean one thing...

it’s time for the Pwllheli Challenge Autumn Series, 4 weekends of racing round the cans. And having lost our scheduled Spring Series racing due to Covid-19, we’ll make the most of any good weather and continue late into the year with the Pwllheli Winter Series too. I’m sure everyone is eager to continue on the water for as long as possible to make up for missed sailing earlier in the year.

Both series will include several classes dependant on number of entries and will also include an NHC

Monday, September 07, 2020 News 2020 239

On the weekend of 5th/6th September seven of the top 29ers in the UK including five Welsh boats came to Pwllheli for a weekend of coached racing on a full championship course using Plas Heli’s race equipment facilities.

Due to the COVID lockdown, for all seven boats this was the first time that they had raced on a championship course since February and so it was a great way to hone their skiff racing skills ready for the first Grand Prix of the year in late September. And Pwllheli did not disappoint: Day 1 delivered four tight races in glamour conditions of 15 to 21 kts with sunshine and plenty of waves to spice up the gybes.

CHPSC News:

As the Autumn approaches, its seems reasonable to reflect on our year so far, and thank all our members and volunteers for their patience and understanding as we dealt with the changing regulations as a result of the pandemic. April started with the lockdown and the club having to hold its AGM via "Zoom", the first RYA CW affiliated club to do so, and also the disappointing decision, in conjunction with Plas Heli, to postpone thee RYA Youth Nationals, after a tremendous amount of preparation. A task force of enthusiastic members joined with Plas Heli directors to manage our pathway back to boating, with protocols devised to enable us to initially open the PH pontoons and compounds, and ultimately the centre, such that when lock down
