The following message has been received from Gerry Haggas' son William.
Gerry was a former Commodore of Pwllheli Sailing Club (1962- 1964), a keen racing sailor in the bay and one of the great offshore racing sailors taking part in decades of ISORA racers.
He encouraged and inspired and was a real motivator of sailors in Pwllheli and the Irish Sea.
He and Olive were loyal supporters and members of the Club and will be missed by many friends and sailors.
There is a wonderful tribute to Gerry on the Afloat Magazine here

Dear All,
I am very sad to announce the death of my father Gerald Haggas aged 96, who died yesterday, peacefully in his sleep. He had battled for a number of years with cancer. After a recent period in hospital, he moved to a very nice nursing home nearby. He was very well looked after and was not in any pain, although in the last couple of days he said he felt sick and didn’t want to eat anything.
He is now in a better place and at peace with Mother.
Please be kind enough to pass this information on to any friends or relatives not included in the above list. He was the last survivor to my knowledge of his generation.
Kind regards
Bill Haggas

The Pwllheli Sailing Club Bar in Plas Heli has been voted the best sailors bar in the World - joint with Pier View Bar Cowes. Wight Vodka sponsored the vote and informed us of the result on New Year's Eve. We are informed that there were over 20,000 votes and that we received over 41% of the vote.
The 2017 Club Calendar has now been posted to all 2016 members and they should arrive during the week before Christmas. In accordance with the usual practice, one copy has been sent by post to addresses outside the 'LL53 5' post code area. If there is more than one member in a household a second copy can be collected from the bar.
Members who live in Pwllheli, or for those who are regular visitors to the Club, the calendar is available in the bar for collection.
Also, additional copies are available to purchase from the bar for £10 and £15 by post.
The images are again this year superb and we are very grateful to the photographers who can be contacted here.
We are also very grateful for the generosity of our sponsors without their support we could not provide the calendar.
