CHPSC News:
I hope this will be my last monthly newsletter in lockdown and my next message will be an opportunity to report and share news about our activities at sea! The Flag Officers Friday newsletter has received a fantastic feedback and our aim is to continue with this weekly communication. The 'Codi Hwyl e-magazine which you also enjoyed will be produced quarterly so please let us know if you have a news item to share.
We look forward to welcoming more members back to Pwllheli after the relaxation of travel restrictions from July 6th, and self-contained accommodation will be able to open from the 11th July, subject to next week's 21-day review. RYA Cymru Wales are working hard to ensure that stays on boats (that must be self-contained with shower and WC facilities for single households) will be allowed under this proposed relaxation of restrictions on the 11th July. A further update of the Notice to Mariners is due on July 9th.
I am grateful for the work of our Flag Officers who have lobbied RYA Cymru Wales (and this feeds to Welsh Government) relating to their advice that only single households may go boating, and we are pleased to announce that they now agree with our analysis that two households may go boating together, providing the boat is big enough to practice social distancing on (currently 2m) - This update to their advice will be published next week.
We are holding a consultation with our partners, with a view to an update to the plan for the IRC Welsh Nationals, for a "stripped down" championship offering a variety of racing, anticipating a relaxation on organised activity later in the month. Further information and entries are invited here
Club membership numbers are increasing despite the continued lockdown. We thank those supporting CHPSC by joining/re-joining during these challenging times.
On Monday morning 06/07/20 the Back to Boating Task Force will commence an operation to tidy the exterior of the Plas Heli building and grounds. The work to be undertaken will involve the strimming of the dunes in the car-park, weeding, litter picking and window cleaning. Anyone who is able to help with any of these tasks would be more than welcome. If you would like to offer your assistance, please contact Our Vice Commodore Gerallt Williams By text, e-mail or telephone
I look forward to seeing you all soon.
